2.0 Research Institute for Sustainable Habitat and Indic-Studies (RISHIS ONLINE)
2.1 Unique Initiative
‘RISHI’ in Indian scriptures is also a title conferred on a very knowledgeable enlightened person who is able to resolve pressing issues and solve urgent problems immediately.
RISHIS is an acronym for Research Institute for Sustainable Habitat and Indic Studies Refer RARF official document No. 20 for the trademark and tagline.
Similar to the prefix of ‘Dr’ for a PhD scholar, the Advanced Level Applied Research Participants may be awarded the Title and prefix of ‘RISHI’ (this is the first of its kind in the country). For the award of title ‘RISHI’ refer RARF official document No. 21.
2.1.1 The Aim
The Aim of Research Institute for Sustainable Habitat and Indic Studies (ONLINE) is to generate and produce knowledgeable and enlightened persons from every State and Union Territory of India compromising of 806 Districts (subject to change based on delimitation with respect to population dynamics) to write and host ‘Applied Research’ Papers on the RISHIS FOUNDATION Web Portal www.rishisfoundation.org so as to increase the awareness among people regarding Sustainable Development and also the importance of our heritage, identity and deep rooted values through Descriptive Papers.
Note: RISHIS FOUNDATION encourages and invites participants from all States and Union Territories to indulge in ‘Applied Research’ mainly as Social Service to create awareness.
2.2.1 Basic Research
It is an academic procedure offered by universities all over the world, after the completion of bachelors and masters degrees resulting in the award of a PhD or Doctor of Philosophy degree. The doctoral research work usually takes four years or more, through a rigorous academic exercise ending in a prescribed format contributing to knowledge base accepted internationally.
As ‘Basic Research’ is out of the purview of the Foundation, an opportunity may be provided for aspiring scholars ample scope to do ‘Applied Research’ in order to further apply to concerned universities for PhD programs, with the guidance of ‘RISHIS Panel of Experts.’ Ref: 4.7.4 RISHIS Research
2.2.2 Applied Research
In contrast to ‘Basic Research’ which focuses on systematic investigation and adding to knowledge base, ‘Applied Research’ lays stress on describing evidence to find instant resolutions. In the applied study, the researcher uses qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data, such as questionnaires, interviews, and observation methods.
‘Applied research’ is an immediate way of finding solutions or resolutions to specific research problems or issues. These problems or issues can be undertaken or an individual, group, or societal level. It proposes the quickest ways, straight to finding solutions and provides implementation reports.
